Planning a trip to Koh Samui? You’re in for a tropical treat — stunning beaches, palm-lined roads, jungle hikes, great food, and plenty of sunshine. But before you get too caught up in daydreams of coconut shakes and sunsets, it’s worth knowing what to pack so you’re prepared for island life.
The good news? You won’t need much. Koh Samui is casual, warm, and laid-back year-round. Here's your essential packing list.

👕 Clothes
Lightweight, breathable clothing – Think cotton, linen, or quick-dry fabrics. It’s hot and humid, so you’ll want to stay cool.
Swimwear – Bring at least two sets so you always have a dry one ready.
Cover-up or sarong – Handy for beach bars or temple visits.
Evening wear – Just one or two smart-casual outfits for nicer dinners or beach clubs.
Rain jacket or poncho – Especially if you’re visiting between October and December. Showers pass quickly but can be heavy.
Comfortable shoes – Flip-flops are fine for most places, but pack trainers or walking sandals if you plan to hike or explore.
Light jumper or long sleeves – For plane rides, air-conditioned restaurants, or sun protection.
🧴 Toiletries & Health
Sunscreen – High SPF is a must. Bring reef-safe if you’ll be snorkelling.
Insect repellent – Essential, especially in the evenings or near water.
After-sun or aloe vera – For the occasional sunburn (it happens).
Hand sanitiser & tissues – Useful in markets and when travelling.
Any personal medications – Pharmacies are easy to find, but always carry what you need.

📱 Tech & Travel Gear
Power adapter – Thailand uses 220V with mostly two-prong plugs.
Portable phone charger – Great for long days out and Google Maps.
Dry bag or waterproof pouch – Protects your phone or valuables on boat trips or rainy days.
Reusable water bottle – Stay hydrated and reduce plastic waste.
Camera or smartphone with good storage – You’ll want to capture everything. Or better yet… let us do it for you (more on that below).

🛂 Travel Essentials
Passport + printed copies – Always good to have a backup.
Travel insurance – Make sure it covers scooters and water activities.
Cash + debit/credit card – Many small vendors are cash-only.
Driver’s licence (and international permit) – If you plan to rent a scooter or car.
Copies of bookings and reservations – Especially helpful if Wi-Fi is unreliable.

Optional (But Useful)
Snorkelling mask – If you plan to explore reefs without renting gear.
Small backpack or beach bag – For day trips and island hopping.
Earplugs and eye mask – Great for light sleepers.
Notebook or travel journal – Perfect for capturing quiet reflections or future Instagram captions.
