Whether you’re here for a week or a month, Koh Samui has something for everyone - from lazy beach days to adrenaline-fuelled adventures. As a local business that spends most of our time photographing the island’s most scenic spots, we’ve seen the best of what Samui has to offer. Here are some of our favourite activities, whether you’re travelling solo, as a couple, or with family.
1. Chase Waterfalls
Samui has some beautiful waterfalls tucked into its jungle interior. Hin Lad and Na Muang 1 are popular choices, both offering scenic hikes and cool pools to dip your feet in. If you go early, you might even have them to yourself. These spots are also great for photos - and yes, we offer waterfall shoots if you want to capture the magic.

2. Explore the Island in a 4x4
The island’s interior is often overlooked, but it’s where you’ll find real hidden gems - hilltop temples, jungle lookouts, and rugged trails that take you off the tourist path. If you’re confident, rent a 4x4 and go exploring. Or join a guided tour that includes panoramic viewpoints and local lunch spots most people miss.
3. Visit the Big Buddha & other Temples
One of the most iconic spiritual sites in Samui is Big Buddha which sits at the end of a causeway and offers views over the bay, while Plai Laem is known for its serene lake and intricate statues. Both are peaceful places to visit, especially around sunrise or sunset. But there are many other temples all around the island.

4. Take a Boat Trip to Ang Thong Marine Park
This collection of protected islands is just a short boat ride away from Samui and offers kayaking, snorkelling, and hiking with jaw-dropping views. If you’re after that postcard-perfect shot, this is the place to be. We’ve done shoots here before, and the scenery never disappoints.

5. Hit the Night Markets
From Fisherman’s Village on Fridays to the Lamai Sunday market, these walking streets come alive in the evening with food stalls, live music, and local crafts. Try the grilled squid, grab a fresh coconut, and soak up the atmosphere. Bring cash and an empty stomach.
6. Go Beach Hopping
Everyone’s got a favourite Samui beach, and it really depends on your vibe. Chaweng is the most developed, with beach clubs and watersports. Lamai is a bit more laid-back. For something quieter, head to Lipa Noi or Bang Po. Some of our best photos come from quiet mornings at these lesser-known beaches.
7. Try a Cooking Class
Thai food is a huge part of the experience, and there’s no better souvenir than learning to cook it yourself. Plenty of places around the island offer half-day or evening classes. You’ll learn to make curry pastes from scratch and get to eat your creations afterwards... win-win!

8. Relax with a Thai Massage
After all that exploring, take time to unwind. You’ll find everything from budget beach massages to high-end spa experiences. A traditional Thai massage might leave you feeling stretched in all directions, but you’ll walk out feeling like a new person.
